With the ever-increasing number of New Zealand resident creative minds and their artistic output, it's inevitable that many artworks end up being bypassed and, worse still, lost in the vastness.
Guitarist Paine (the author) is fortunate indeed to have works regularly broadcast by Radio New Zealand concert. For obvious and understandable reasons to do with fairness and available resources, since around 2016-19 the music selections have been restricted to a limited and fixed number of compositions and recordings. Later works, some of which have been broadcast in other countries such as England, Ireland and the United States, are less likely to have been heard on New Zealand radio.
Thankfully listeners can always turn to the internet to stream audio and to hear lesser known works such as the following:
Tua Marina Sonata - recording by John Couch (tracks 22 - 25)
Nocturne, Drowsing, Nightmare and Reprise - recording by Bruce Paine (tracks 8 - 10)
Oakura Chimes - recorded by Gunter Herbig
The Selwyn River Suite - recorded by Bruce Paine (tracks 10 - 14)
Seikilos Chimes, 4. Time Demands its Due - performed by Barkin Sertkaya
Waitemata Reverie - recorded by Gunter Herbig
West Coast Suite - recorded by Bruce Paine (tracks 11 - 15)
These works and many others can be found on music platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music - and of course there are still physical CDs available for the diehard collector!
