Both my Second Recital for Guitar (1999) and …still we sang (2024) albums share something in common beyond the guitar: they were recorded right here at home, in the same small Auckland studio space.
Through the winter months of each project, these recordings gradually took shape — quietly, patiently, and without the fanfare of big studios or major labels. It’s rather fitting, then, that Second Recital still finds its way onto Radio New Zealand Concert’s "Made in New Zealand programme" from time to time. Few listeners would know quite how made-in-New-Zealand it really is.
It’s a small personal milestone I felt worth sharing.
